Way back in 1993, when I attended Mary Carroll High School, I enrolled in a senior work program designed for future educators.  This course allowed me to attend school for half a day and work as a teacher's aide the second half of the day.  I was placed in an Adapted Education unit at Cunningham Middle School, and the students inspired me so much, that it was right then and there that I knew what I wanted to do for the "rest of my life". 

As I attended Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, I continued to work with individuals having disabilities.  From working as a direct care attendant, to supervising a group home, and later on substituting for CCISD (only accepting jobs in AE or SP units), I eventually graduated in 1999 with my Special Education certificate.  Calallen Middle School was where I first began my journey in my very own classroom for students with severe and profound disabilities.  I stayed with the district until 2003, when my husband and I decided to become a homeschool family of three.  For seventeen years, I homeschooled and eventually graduated my own three kids, but I was "itching" to get back into the classroom.  So, here I am...back at my home base school, doing what I've always loved.
