Travis Ratliff is originally from Austin, TX. In 2009, he began his undergraduate career at the University of North Texas studying Music Education as a trombonist.
While at UNT he was an active member of the Green Brigade Marching Band, UNT Concert and Symphonic Bands, Brass Band, Basketball band, and various trombone choirs and small ensembles. During his sophomore and junior years he was a marching member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps.
He began his teaching experience as a marching band technician for several award-winning schools in the North Texas area, and finished his time at UNT as a student teacher at Billy Ryan High School in Denton, TX, with Eddy Russell. After graduating he moved to Austin to work with marching bands and then to Houston to begin his teaching career in Splendora, TX. He is currently in his 4th year teaching and his second year in Calallen ISD.
Mr. Ratliff teaches the CMS Concert Band, Beginner Trombone, Beginner Horn, and Middle School and High School Jazz Bands. He also is assists with the High School Marching Band Visual Program and oversees the Colorguard.
In his free time Mr. Ratliff enjoys spending time with his amazing wife Courtney and their silly 3 year old daughter Riley, who loves music and dancing to disney movies. He is a huge Texas Rangers fan and loves anything Star Wars.
