I was born in Alice, Texas and grew up in the small close knit town of Palito Blanco where I was surrounded by family, friends, the great peacefulness of country living and best set of parents and brother I could have ever asked for.

I attended Palito Blanco Elementary, Ben Bolt Middle School, and graduated in 1999 from Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco High School. Throughout these years, my greatest love was sports! I learned about dedication, discipline and teamwork through my participation in Badger volleyball, basketball, softball, and tennis. I learned many valuable life lessons that I carry with me and instil in my own children till this very day.

Two days after high school graduation, I waved goodbye to my life in Palito Blanco, and began my pursuit towards a higher education. My focus was on building a solid foundation to ensure a prosperous life for myself and my future family. On May 2004, I graduated from Texas A&M University- Kingsville with a Bachelor in Social Work. After  graduation in May 2004, I married my husband.

I then decided to embark in a career in education, and began my Masters Program in August 2005. In December of 2007, I graduated from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi with a Masters in Elementay Education and Teacher Certificate, Reading/Langauge Arts, Grades 4-8.

While persusing my masters degree, I began teaching sixth and seventh grade English Language Arts & Reading in Corpus Christi ISD. This was my home for 7 Years.  In the spring of 2008, my classroom was designated by the district as Co-Teaching Classroom of the year for my inclusion model classroom setting. In 2011, Title One's televised series, The Learning Zone, brought their cameras inside my classroom to capture my teaching as the students engaged in a lesson titled: "Guided Reading Stations and Poetry Cross Genre Analysis."

The 2012-2013 school year brought many exciting opportunities for my students as I embraced Inquiry Based Learning and turned my classroom into The Inquiry for Change Classroom,  a classroom of self directed critical thinkers, problem solvers and student led social activists. In January 2013, my classroom was recognized and featured in The Superintendent Spotlight. Even more exciting news came in January 2013, when I was nominated by my campus as Teacher of the Year.

After 7 years of numerous accomplishments within Corpus Christi ISD, I finally decided to make the switch to Wildcat Country! It was time to become a part of the small close knit community like the one I grew up in and loved so much!

Today, I am ecstatic to be a part of such an amazing district, campus and an even more amazing community! I LOVE attending Widcat Sports and spend most of my afterschool time at the fields cheering on our Wildcats! I  look foward to every opportunity to change a student's life...to inspire a child...to make a difference in our community and world!
