Calallen FFA Agricultural Science Introduction
FFA Website
The officers of the Calallen FFA Chapter welcome you to the Calallen FFA and the Agricultural Science Department. The Calallen FFA Chapter had an outstanding year in 2022-2023 and will strive to have an even better year in 2023-2024. In keeping with this idea, a few guidelines have been set up for all FFA members and students to follow. First and foremost, FFA membership is not required, but is highly encouraged.
FFA Meetings:
The chapter has one meeting per month, which will be on the third Monday or as needed. These meetings are mandatory for you to attend. You must attend 3 meetings during the Fall semester in order to participate in the County Stock Show. If you miss a meeting, you must submit a letter to the Chapter President stating why the meeting was missed. If two consecutive meetings are missed, without good cause, the member will be removed from the membership roster and will lose all membership privileges.
Supervised Agricultural Experience Program:
It is hands-on, real-life agricultural career preparation experience tied to agricultural science curriculum, student aptitudes, interests and career and educational goals and to the agricultural industry. It ties together the entire agricultural education experience. Each agricultural education student will have an SAE that is documented in an approved record book.
Supplies Needed For Class:
Pencil, Pen, Paper, Three-ring binder, Calculator (optional)
Agricultural Mechanics classes will require a long-sleeve shirt, non-frayed pants and closed toe shoes.
Grading System:
Grades will consist of daily work, tests, notebooks, record books, and special assignments. These will be averaged according to the school district policy to achieve each nine-weeks grade.
Citizenship:
Students are required to follow the guidelines set forth in the school student handbook and the FFA Manual. You are expected to be above average in citizenship. The agricultural science instructors reserve the right to decide which students will make approve field trips, leadership and judging contests, conventions, and stock shows.
Calallen Independent School District shall not discriminate in their educational programs, activities, or employment practices based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, religion, ancestry, or any other legally protected classification.
