2026-2027 Benefits

As part of our annual benefits review, we are transitioning to a new health insurance provider, United Health Care, effective September 1, 2026. Open enrollment for the upcoming plan year will run from August 3, 2026, to August 14, 2026. All employees will be required to complete the enrollment process this year to select your United Health Care plan and ensure your coverage continues seamlessly into the new year.
What is Changing?
United Health Care
While we remain committed to offering competitive health benefits, our new plan with United Health Care features a few key updates:
- Network & Providers: Network is changing to myuhc.com.
- Copays & Deductibles: The new health plan will consist of copays and deductibles like a traditional health plan.
- Plan Features: Three plan designs to choose from to meet your needs, two HMO plans and one POS plan.
- PCP required for the two HMO plans – Refer to the District Benefits webpage for instructions on how to obtain the provider ID for enrollment.
Basic information has been posted to the District Benefits webpage for your review, and additional information will continue to be added throughout the summer as it is made available.
New Carriers- Supplemental benefits
- Short term/Long term disability – carrier changed to Unum
- Dental – carrier changed to Cigna
- Critical Illness - carrier changed to Hartford
- Hospital Indemnity - carrier changed to Chubb

Employer Paid Hospital Indemnity Insurance
We are excited to announce a new, employer-paid addition to our benefits package: Group Hospital Indemnity Insurance.
Beginning on September 1, 2026, Calallen ISD will provide this coverage at absolutely no cost to you. We recognize that hospital stays can be financially stressful, and we want to ensure you have a financial safety net should the unexpected happen as we transition back to a “traditional” health insurance offering.
