Wildcat GT Process (K-2)

Wildcat GT Process Grades 3-8

Calallen Independent School District's Wildcat Gifted & Talented Program for language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies begins in kindergarten and goes through twelfth grade. The program provides challenging and differentiated instruction for identified students who show high general intellectual ability and exhibit the potential for creative and productive thinking.

This year the district will utilize a screening process to determine referral for testing for the gifted and talented program. If your child is referred for further testing, the district will use FOUR criteria for the identification process. The student must meet the district cut-off score in two of the four criteria to be identified for the Wildcat Gifted & Talented Program. The four measures are:

  • NWEA MAP - ELAR
  • NWEA MAP - MATH
  • Cognitive Abilities Test Screener, Form 8 (cogAT)
  • Grades K - 2: Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT)
  • Grades 3 - 12: Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT)
